Our Christmas Meal

Today we served a 3 course Christmas meal to local older people and we were so pleased to see everyone enjoying themselves and chatting to one another.
We have some very special shout outs to do today!
We just want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to:
• The Spitfire Pub and Kitchen – Just wow! Denise has donated the most beautiful Turkey, potatoes, carrots, cauliflower, parsnips, pigs in blankets and stuffing! You are so generous and we are so incredibly grateful for all the work you and your team put in to preparing the majority of the meal we served today!
• One Stop – a special thank you must go to Eunice who not only donated some raffle prizes but who woke at 5am this morning to put together Christmas gift bags for every member attending our meal today so that they would all receive a special gift this year. Your whole team is amazing!
• Dolce Vita for making their incredible Tiramisu – have you ever seen anything as beautiful as their Tiramisu?! For many years now they have donated this delicious dessert and we are so grateful for their continued support – you’re all amazing!
• Tesco in Ainsdale for donating an amazing raffle prize, mince pies and tea bags – the staff couldn’t be more helpful and generous when contributing to our event. Thank you so much!
• Harbour Café and Bar – who donated the most beautiful Christmas crackers for our table and a beautiful bottle of bubbly for our raffle too – thank you so very much, our tables looked amazing and the crackers had some fantastic jokes inside
• Busy Bee in Ainsdale Village for donating a fantastic raffle prize of Fish and Chips for two! Thank you so much!
• Kings Meadow Primary School pupils for making such wonderful Christmas cards for all our members – you’re amazing!
• Our incredible staff and volunteers – you have worked so hard to serve all this beautiful food to the community and created such a lovely, welcoming atmosphere for everyone
We hope everyone had a fantastic day and we’ve shared a few photos for you now and have more to come tomorrow 😁

Autumn Activities Success

We have had a busy and fun half term week! 😁
We’ve had relaxing craft activities, our exciting time capsule project and a busy and adrenaline fuelled rock climbing session on Friday night 🧗‍♀️🎨🙌
It was also lovely to chat to young people and some parents whilst we were out doing outreach over the halloween weekend, thanks to everyone that engaged with us, we hope you all had fun evenings and stayed safe 😊
Our November evening sessions were also a hit, filled with crafts, board games and sports plus a nice meal each week to keep our energy levels up. 😁

Woodvale Woodland Clean Up

A HUGE thank you to sandwayhomes, Barnfield Construction Limited, Turner & Townsend and Paul Crabtree & Sons who volunteered their time this week to support us with the Woodvale Woodland Project 🙌😁
Sandway Homes have said how pleased they were to be able to work with us and their partners to benefit the local community.
Paul Crabtree & Sons came out of their way on Monday afternoon to deliver wood chip for our event. This meant on Tuesday morning our team, alongside Sandway Homes and Barnfield Construction, were able to lay wood chip on various sections of the Woodland paths. We also cleared 3 sacks of rubbish and used a leaf blower on the tarmac path to clear the slippy leaves too 🍂🌳
We didn’t manage to lay wood chip on all of the paths but we hope that the amount we managed to do yesterday keeps our wellies a little bit cleaner this year! 🥾🧣🧤
We are so grateful for the support we have had with this project. We know that so many local people use these paths on a daily basis and we hope that by laying the wood chip you are able to access them through the Winter months too!
If you’re interested in supporting our Woodland Project please get in touch, we’d love to hear from you 😊

Our First Afternoon Lunch!

Yesterday we hosted our first afternoon lunch since March 2020. It was absolutely lovely! 🙌
We cooked carrot and coriander soup, sausage casserole with a choice of school-days sprinkle cake or mixed berry crumble with custard for dessert served with teas, coffees and a raffle to end. Lovely, warming meals for the chilly autumn weather we have now 😊🍂
It was great having everyone in and serving fresh, home cooked meals for local older people and we’re looking forward to our Christmas events.
A big thank you to our volunteers for coming to help yesterday too, it was great to have you there ☺️

Summer Sizzlers Programme 2021

Wow what a summer!

After missing a year due to Covid we were so excited to get back up and running our favourite activities through August. We had so much fun at Chester zoo learning about ecosystems, rock climbing, bowling, visiting Crosby lakeside for water-sports and more.

As you can see from our pictures we had such a fun time. Bring on next summer!

WACA Sports

How fab does this set up look for the WACA Sports session last Friday night?!
The weather was amazing and everyone had a great time playing Netball, Volleyball and Basketball focusing on co-ordination and movement 🏀🙌
We’ll soon be releasing the dates for our August sessions so there will be more opportunity to book on 😁

Pandemic Art Project

We are so impressed with the art work that our group came up with and put together for our Pandemic Art Project. This project was all about speaking to young people and hearing their experiences of this past year.

We started with a whiteboard full of notes and ideas and then grouped them together to make 6 pieces of art. The young people decided between them who would work on each piece and supported one another if they got stuck for ideas or needed help to design their piece.

This is the finished result and we are so proud of all the hard work that went in to this project and it has been really valuable to hear how young people have experienced this past year.

Zoom Decopatch Workshop

Today was our first Zoom Decopatch Workshop and it was amazing! So relaxing and immersive and a great opportunity to try something new and chat to one another too!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who came this morning! We had the most wonderful time and are so grateful you were able to be there. And another HUGE thank you to Zulay for running the session, showing us this lovely craft and talking to us about the importance of self care and how relaxing crafts can be.
