Wow what a summer!
After missing a year due to Covid we were so excited to get back up and running our favourite activities through August. We had so much fun at Chester zoo learning about ecosystems, rock climbing, bowling, visiting Crosby lakeside for water-sports and more.
As you can see from our pictures we had such a fun time. Bring on next summer!
We are so impressed with the art work that our group came up with and put together for our Pandemic Art Project. This project was all about speaking to young people and hearing their experiences of this past year.
We started with a whiteboard full of notes and ideas and then grouped them together to make 6 pieces of art. The young people decided between them who would work on each piece and supported one another if they got stuck for ideas or needed help to design their piece.
This is the finished result and we are so proud of all the hard work that went in to this project and it has been really valuable to hear how young people have experienced this past year.

Bottom left: All the Apps we used on our phones during the Pandemic and the creative ways we all stayed in touch and in school
Top middle: Showing a bubble machine releasing bubbles that show social distancing, family bubbles, candle lit service in remembrance, toilet roll and the posters we had in our windows
Bottom middle: Created to look like a family noticeboard highlighting the three days we were allowed to spend together at Christmas
Top right: All the hobbies we took up during lockdown and throughout the pandemic – painting, baking, walking, music, sports etc.
Bottom right: All those Coronavirus emotions. From happiness to annoyance and frustration and everything in between
Today was our first Zoom Decopatch Workshop and it was amazing! So relaxing and immersive and a great opportunity to try something new and chat to one another too!
Over the past couple of weeks we’ve been talking to young people about how they have experienced this past year. We’re turning all of our ideas into a mixed media art piece that will be displayed on the youth noticeboard in the community centre. We’ll update again soon when all the pieces are finished but here is a sneak peak of what has been done so far…
We have been trying to find ways to give local people a boost and recently we delivered 40 Afternoon Tea boxes to our lunch club members. We have really missed all our groups here at the centre and wanted to do something special for everyone. We’re lucky enough to say that we’ll have more of these boxes coming soon too!
We had so much fun making these lovely rainbow decorations! We spent some time thinking about where we would hang them up at home and what colours we could use to create that colourful rainbow.
Here is a time lapse video of us creating one start to finish:
